Back in the not so old days, the Hillsboro Argus used to promote the best Holiday home in the City!  The bottom line was whoever had the best home was sent in to the editor and he would deploy the photographers out for a snapshot.  The staff would vote over a few weeks and then announce who the best was!  It was a matter of great civic pride to see who won!   We remember and so do many of the people of Hillsboro.

So here we go gang- with a modern twist we want YOU to find your favorite homes or buildings and snap a shot and then post it below.  Once you do make sure to add the address and then Vote for your favorites!  The winners will get a $50 gift certificate to a LOCAL *business of their choice.  Winners will be the top 3 vote-getters and/or the photographers who submit the photos.  If the photographer owns or resides at the home/building there will be just one prize.  Anyone can enter, all photos must be within Hillsboro, Oregon.  Any disputes will be settled by the Herald Staff and our decisions are final!

Lastly, we are co-promoting this event with Mr. Alan Meeker of Hillsboro and the THOUSANDS of Fans at the Hillsboro Oregon Christmas Lights Facebook Page!  Go check out the crazy wild action there and the maps they have created!

Let’s have some fun folks- post those picks and let’s see how much holiday fun we can create before the end of this 2020 GRINCH of a year! See rules additional rules below-

*additional rules. 1) The Herald Staff are not eligible in any way. 2) The Top 3 Voted Homes win the $50 gift cards. 3) If the homeowner(s) or resident(s) is/are also the person submitting the photo of a top 3 Voted Home then that home/photographer will only qualify for one gift certificate. 4) The most prizes we will give out is 6 total. 5) A minimum of 3 prizes will be awarded. 6) the gift certificates are for local restaurants or shops and will not be given out for National Franchise brands. Convenience markets and grocery stores are not qualifying businesses either. Local Restaurants, shops, stores, entertainment venues are fine. The business must be licensed in the City of Hillsboro to qualify and the business must accept gift cards or offer them. The winners will have 48 hours from being contacted that they have won by the Hillsboro Herald staff to identify a business that will fit under the rules above. Failure to respond or identify a business within 48 hours will forfeit the winner’s rights and the Hillsboro Herald will not extend the offer and the prize as promised will be voided as a result. 8) Any disputes arising out of this contest or the rules will be resolved unilaterally by the Hillsboro Herald staff. 9) The voting is being done by the WooBox App and the staff of the Hillsboro Herald has no control over the voting or the rules and procedures of voting. 10) The Hillsboro Herald staff may remove any objectionable photos at any time. 11) The contest is allowing for more than one person to submit the same home to the contest. In that case, the submission with the most votes will win as per the rules above as the Herald staff can not control who submits what photo. 12) If a home is added that is not within the official City limits and annexed into the City Boundary it will not qualify for a winning prize. All users shall be aware of this rule. 13) By hitting SUBMIT to this contest the person submitting give the Hillsboro Herald the copyright usage of the submitted photo to use the photo for any promotional or commercial use without compensation to the person who posted the photo- and the person submitting the photo to the contest warrants that they own the photo and have the copyright usage thereof. 14) All persons submitting a photo or voting in our contest agree and understand that they are bound by these rules and will therefore be subject to the rules. Entering this contest gives the person entering or voting no specific rights to win anything at all. All disputes are to be resolved through mediation and all parties entering this contest waive their rights to sue in any court including small claims, or any other legal channels available to them now or in the future. 15) The contest is for fun and is to be in the spirit of fun. Anyone violating that spirit in anyway is hereby exempted from this contest and forfeits all rights to win anything regardless of is they actually won via the most votes of a photo submitted.

This home is spectacular. We had the opportunity to speak with the owner and realizing the purpose of the display was so touching. He does it to honor his previouneighbor’s 4 year old son who lost his battle to Leukemia. Bring a toy or donate to the Red Tricyle Brigade. 3136 Sunburst Avenue, Hillsboro, OR.

Correction to my post please. This house was actually 2637 Aurora Drive, Hillsboro.
We saw so many wonderful displays but definitely want the Red Tricyle Brigade recognized for 2627 Aurora Drive.

So thanks. I got many votes but I am just out of bounds for city limits. Funny but I do teach in Hillsboro and kids and grand kids go there. But don’t count. Thanks anyway. Glad people enjoyed my house

Joann – The rules were set the entire contest – I would have said something sooner if I had caught it. Your house is stunning – there are strict laws about compliance with contest rules but the Herald will see what we can do- We can still mention the top Vite getters in the contest so let me see what else we can come up with.

Thanks for understanding and for teaching our kids!

Caroline Madden & husband put up such a fun display of lights and interactive s along with great music and stories. We were transformed to wonderland of magic. The picture does not do the setup display justice. It is so festive and mesmerizing to watch. Our vote for the best Christmas display in Hillsboro. We’ve gone back three times just to watch and enjoy: Friday night there was a drive by of 30 cats honking and waving Merry Christmas to the Maddens! Thank you so much for all your work we loved your Halloween display as well!

3918 NE Meadows Ln. Wins hands down.
It’s pictured 5 times on there with all different totals. Should have been pictured only once. Add all the vote up and they are clearly number 1.

      David-

Please read the rules. From the get-go we said owners and individuals could enter the contest. Several people drove out and loved various homes and sent in photos- in this case, the owners submitted and so did other folks. They did win one of the prizes so not to worry – this was a great house. There was no #1 winner – we are awarding prizes to the top vote getters and hey were one.

      Thanks

Still a very flawed system in my mind. You don’t have to like my opinion.
