My goodness, the world seems to have gone mad in 2023.  We are experiencing crime in the news almost daily here in Hillsboro, which is not the norm and certainly not ok.  The Hillsboro Police Department is on overdrive right now.  They have been working harder than ever from our view.  I want to take a moment to recognize their efforts and to encourage them to continue in these recent successes.

Here are a few of the Media releases they have put out the past few weeks:

This man was terrorizing people with his incredibly terrifying mask and home burglaries- thank God he has been caught!

The horrifying execution-style Murder at Kim’s Red Rose (formerly Dragon Fountain)  on TV Highway was resolved with the arrest of the suspected shooter.  Our hearts go out to the victim’s family, Isaura Soto Gaona, a well-liked local woman.

A shooting on the street in Downtown Hillsboro – HPD assisted the victim while searching for the shooter.  This case is still being pursued.

The Orenco area was the scene of an assault and a stabbing – HPD responded and provided aide to the victim and located the attackers, who were juveniles and arrested.  This was a horrible thing to see happen with our young people.  Truly sad.

The Herald does not cover crime very often.  The velocity of these events and the great work of the #HillsboroPoliceDepartment need to be recognized and we are worried about our town.  If you need help, have a case you need help with, or wish to recognize the Hillsboro Poice Department and their staff, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Herald at HillsboroHerald@gmail.com
