Local members of the community joined yesterday morning to safely gather and color signs together with the Community Action Hillsboro, https://caowash.org/. Since 1965, Community Action has provided crucial services through innovative community partnerships throughout Washington County to help economically disadvantaged community members achieve better lives, and increase opportunities for their children to thrive at home and in school.
‘LOVE on the FENCE’ invites the community to support Community Action Hillsboro, this week’s featured non-profit, at https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx
Yesterday’s grand finale LOVE sign creation was the last of an 8-week “LOVE on the FENCE” project. These LOVE creations will be installed this weekend on the Miller Education Center West school fence at the corner of SE Oak St & 4th. Thank you to the 16 community volunteers, including Mayor Steve Callaway and
Joan Heinrich Callaway who is the President of the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council.
Many thanks to this week’s fence sponsor – New Seasons Market at Orenco Station! The LOVE on the FENCE project would not have been possible without the support of local business sponsors each week and we are deeply grateful to them for helping us in our efforts to raise spirits, raise $$ for local non-profits and encourage each of us to #chooselove more often.
Thank you to Elizabeth M. Higgins for designing the LOVE artwork, to Martin Conley at Golden Road Arts for helping behind the scenes with the project, to Bennett Urban Farm Store/Bennett Coffee Roasting Company and Millennium Graphics and Forms for their in-kind sponsorships, and of course to the Hillsboro School District for allowing to use school fences for this project!
Thank you to Cindy Cosenzo of Age Celebration for organizing and creating the ‘Love on the Fence’ project and for bringing the community together safely, especially during a time when the community is important more than ever.
