As if there were not already a ton of reasons to get to downtown Hillsboro, Oregon this holiday season you now all have another. Shopping, eating, seeing the lights, walking the historic streets, grabbing a special coffee or growler, eating at a food cart- all amazing things to do in the heart of the City. But there are some special Holiday things happening too.
One of them is the Winter Window competition being promoted by the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership. The idea was come up with to help decorate downtown- to put artists from the community together we some local downtown businesses and have them pretty up the storefronts! We talked to several artists and most had never done a window before. The results are really magical and wonderful! Beautiful colors, great designs, whimsical fun, and all in the spirit of the Holidays!
The HDP wants you to Vote – so go check out the photos and Vote and help your favorite artist and storefront win! We had a chance to see many of them going up and appreciated the concepts and the process. Emily Barnes gave us the best smile from both sides of the window as she worked on Bennet’s Urban Farm Store. Her first window- and it looks amazing! They all do!
Get to downtown out in the fresh air and support the many businesses and eateries! Do your best to #ShopLocal and #EatLocal. Happy Holidays!
It was a joy to have participated in this event. I was stopped several times while painting my window by people saying, ” we need this cheer so much!” Made my heart and paint brushes feel so much lighter!
You all did such a wondeful job!
