BREAKING Update 10-15-25 – An Arrest Has Just Been Made in Hillsboro on TV Highway and about SE 11th in front of Planet Fitness. This is an update to our story from yesterday: We have just received a video from a reader of the Hillsboro Herald. We make this post for public information and Record.
The Real Story – A Column
At 9:30 AM this morning in Hillsboro, Oregon, some ICE Officers were identified as being on the hunt for someone in NE Hillsboro. This area is located just east of Poynter Middle School. Some locals decided to take action and blocked the ICE officer’s vehicle, discouraging them from being in the neighborhood. The video was shared on Facebook and Instagram, and it immediately began spreading the word. ICE Shows Up In Hillsboro And Is Confronted By Locals Who Take Action- VIDEO POSTED HERE
Because Hillsboro has a Hispanic/LatinX population of over 25,000, it was an expectation that the community would eventually be targeted. This is the 3rd or 4th incident that the Herald has heard of in our community, but the first film that has surfaced. The Hillsboro Police Department was not present, and as of the time of writing this article, it is unclear whether HPD would be able to intervene or provide assistance. Requesting badge numbers, warrants, and information is a practice that many cities have incorporated into their laws and rules of engagement regarding how police interact with ICE agents. People need to be aware that community activity has increased, and we can expect this trend to continue.
The person who shot this film provided it to the Herald, and we post it for the community to review and internalize. That person took decisive action and blocked the ICE vehicle in while recruiting help from others in the neighborhood to peacefully block the road access, preventing the purported ICE agents from completing their hunt or detention/arrest of the people or persons they were looking for. Any News Agencies that wish to report on this incident are welcome to utilize the film or contact the Herald. We will provide you with the film and contact information for those who shot it, who have requested that the film be shared as widely as possible.

This is something not many people will do. Still, we see more and more of this sort of action every day as citizens fight back against aggressive actions, often accompanied by the lack of identification and warrants provided by federal officers.
In 63 years I have been in our community and living in Oregon, I would have never dreamed of seeing this sort of thing happening- this is without precedent with the exception of the post Pearl Harbor insanity in which Japanese Americans from Hillsboro were ripped from their farm and taken away. The Herald covered this a couple of years ago- here is a passage:
George Iwasaki and his family moved to Hillsboro in 1914 and bought a family farm along Minter Bridge Road. Their purchase occurred before the US passed a law forbidding first-generation Japanese immigrants from owning land. They thrived and persisted on the farm for a few decades before being subjected to internment, ripped from Hillsboro and their farm in 1942 by the authority of Executive Order 9066. Just a few days after their wedding, George and his wife, Tomiko Natsuhara, his parents, and his brothers and sisters were removed from their farm and taken to a processing center in Portland. Rather than face a prison camp, George guided his family to Nyssa, Oregon, where they were required to work on a farm until the end of World War II.
Unlike many Japanese families who lost everything, the Iwasakis were able to come home to Hillsboro to their farm. Why? Well, what we know is that the Iwasakis’ neighbors, the Freudenthal brothers, ran and fiercely protected their farm. It is said that the farm was running and in terrific shape when the family returned. This act of kindness and love epitomizes what we hope all people can be like.

Sound off below- and stay safe out there, everyone. What a world we now live in. Can any of us looking around at this honestly say things are better now than just a few months ago? That is a complex argument to win. We all want our children, friends, and neighbors to be safe. And now we must ask ourselves what that even means anymore.
These people are obstructing/interfering. This is a federal offense captured on video. These people should be sent to jail.
Ice is kidnapping people without due process. They should be thrown in jail. Its not obstructing if it isn’t a lawful order.
They’re federal police officers. They don’t “kidnap” people, they arrest them.
they are NOT federal police officers….if they cannot provide a warrant signed by a judge (which they either cannot or refuse to show) then that’s kidnapping!
Educate yourself. ICE does not kidnap. This is why some of you idiots do stupid shit and land your asses in jail. Educate yourselves on immigration law. They are federal law enforcement agents and they have lawful orders given to them by the President of the United States, The only time they need a judicial warrant is if they are going to a private business or domicile, unless they are allowed to enter then they do not need a warrant. They can detain illegal aliens in public places without a warrant all they need is probable cause. Use your brain. If they suspect someone of being here illegally they are not going to get a warrant and come back for that person when he/she will already be gone. Also they do not have to show the warrant to anyone asking for it because warrants have information on them and it should only be shown to the detainee. They don’t have to show the warrant in that moment of arrest
Gypsy, the record is not on your side on this one. The statistics are staggering that they are not arresting criminals. They are arresting citizens. And the record shows they are breaking the laws. I have personally interviewed several who were detained that verfied No Warrants were of any kind were ever shown to them. The amount of Civil litigation going on now and in the future is staggering. There is no reason that local law enforecemnt can not be shown warrants and proper credentials by ICE. The fact that you are not ok with that speaks volumes.
The Hillsboro PD should arrest these “concerned citizens” for blocking a public thoroughfare, which is illegal. Of course, they are nowhere to be seen. Dereliction of duty. Notwithstanding that, the ICE agents should call for backup and then arrest these people for obstruction….a federal charge.
I bet you think that its fine the new ss threatened and delayed EMS personnel by demanding they break the law or that its fine that warrant-less raid was conducted and that children as young as 3 had their hands zip-tied like criminals. I bet you think all the atrocities being committed are fine because they are criminals when over 50% detainments have been people with no criminal record. I bet you think it is some huge federal offence to over stay a visa when it is a simple civil issue not a criminal one. I bet you think once all the minorities are gone everything will turn into a 1950s utopia when in actuality once everyone else is gone they will turn their boot to you.
They blocked a criminal in a mask! That is not illegal. And they would have gotten out of the way if there was an emergency vehicle! They have discernment as evidenced by their courageous actions to block this ICE employee who is part of the illegal kidnapping of people & jailing them without American due process. If you condone what they do, you are as racist as they are.

Brave people, indeed. That lady has cajones. Hats off to those folks for stopping those masked kidnappers. No telling who they are. Looks like the masked dude is just driving his minivan. Federal agents? How would we know? Wearing masks like bandits – why? What are they trying to hide?
Thank you for watching out for our neighbors. As a Mexican decent US citizen, I have anxiety and stress from this situation. I live my line as normal but I always have the worry of being targeted in the back of my mind when I’m out and about.

So some random guy, wearing a mask and driving a car with Washington plates, is cruising their neighborhood. Yeah, they did the right thing. Who know who this guy was! He could be some whacko cosplaying an ICE agent for all anyone knows. Good on them for standing up for their neighbors
This is the position I have to take as an American as well. State, County, City- all law enforcement must be fully able to be identified, willing to be identified, and required to be in official vehicles, with official papers, and with name, badge, and other supporting information. Hillsboro Police and Washington County Law enforcement do this- and always have. So do OSP officers. Now what we need is for those officers to come and detain anyone who wants to try to detain or take a resident of our communities until they identify themselves and have been properly vetted. That they could do and have the full legal backing of the law- and they should do that!
You do realize that undercover narcotics officers at every level; city, county, state and federal, do not reveal themselves either. This is done for their protection because they find and arrest people that would mercilessly kill and hunt them and their families if they knew who they were. ICE agents arrest many of the same kind of people. Cartel leaders have put some hefty bounties on these agents heads, and their families. Imagine that! Young American children being targeted, and your stance is that you are okay with this? Cause you can’t have it both ways… Either you demand their identity be revealed and their families exposed and at risk, or you allow them to cover their faces for their protection. It’s that simple.
Whether we agree with it or not people who are blocking federal agents from doing their jobs are running the risk of being arrested for obstruction. If they find it worth being arrested, that’s on them. HPD is not going to involve themselves and act as a mediator between federal agents and private citizens and even asking them is seriously deranged imo.

Hillsboro remind its police to adhere to their mission is not “seriously deranged,” it’s the least the city’s residents can ask of the HPD.

As we’ve seen in Los Angeles, D.C., and Chicago, neighbors standing up for one another in the moment is very important, but it’s even more important if prosecutors try to press charges against these Good Samaritans.
Local District Attorney Kevin Barton may or may not decided to press charges against these brave neighbors, but Trump’s Department of InJustice is more likely to do so. Just because they try to charge our neighbors doesn’t mean a grand jury must indict or a jury has to find them guilty. It’s our duty as Americans to defend each other from a vindictive and revenge seeking administration.
Jury nullification is a real option. Look it up.
