Help reduce flooding caused by clogged catch basins and keep more than 240 miles of Hillsboro streets clean. Participate in the City of Hillsboro Public Works Departmentโ€™s annual Fall Street Tree Leaf Pickup and Drop-off Program.

Curbside Option

The curbside street tree leaf pickup season runs Nov. 2 to Dec. 24. In ten districts across the city, crews will pick up leaves once in November, and again in December. Pickup schedules may change due to emergencies or severe weather.

Here’s how to determine your district and pickup dates:

  • Access the online map and schedule,
  • Pick up a map and schedule at the Civic Center Utility Billing Office (150 E. Main Street),
  • Read the leaf collection flyer included with your City utility bill,
  • Call 503-615-6509 for assistance.

Before each pickup date in your respective leaf collection district, rake loose street tree leaves into a long row, spaced 18 inches away from the curb so the flow of storm water is not obstructed. It is important to keep leaf rows less than three feet high, and not to block bike lanes, sidewalks, pathways, mailboxes, garbage collection areas, driveways, or intersections and cul-de-sacs.

Drop-Off Option

The City offers two street tree leaf drop-off events for residents to haul and dispose of loose leaves. These events will be located at the City of Hillsboro Public Works Department, 4415 NE 30th Avenue. The dates are Saturday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 5. The time is 9 am to 3 pm on both days. Only street tree leaves will be accepted. No other yard debris. While loose leaves are preferred, leaves may also be in biodegradable paper bags (not plastic).

The City encourages residents to follow the COVID-19 guidance at the leaf drop-off events for safety. Please remain in your vehicle, wear a face covering, and maintain six feet distance. Additionally, instead of making a canned food donation to the Oregon Food Bank at the leaf drop-off events, please consider donating online to help serve your neighbors in need during this time of crisis.

For more information about the annual leaf collection program, visit the City’s web page or call 503-615-6509.
