Many of you reacted to the recent naming of the new elementary school in North Plains, Oregon.  The newest elementary school will be named Atfalati Ridge.  The name honors the native people of our valley who have been all but forgotten in recent years.  The Herald covered that story here last month.

The HSD representative working on the new school contacted us to let us know that a survey is being taken for the next few days to receive input on what the new school mascot should be.  This is what our City is striving for- inclusion and community input on all important matters and this is one of them!

So everyone that wants to take the survey can click here and give their input.  Simple and quick.  So we say Go For it!

Voting closes NOV 12th so go pick your favorite name!

Also – the names offered up have been reviewed and blessed by the Confederated Tribes of Grande Ronde; the Tribe that the Atfalati were merged into back into the 1800s.

Atfalati Ridge Mascot Survey
Our new school in North Plains has a name, Atfalati Ridge, adopted by the School Board on Oct. 27. Now, it needs a mascot! The following have been deemed suitable by The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde to represent the school. We appreciate your response by Thursday, Nov. 12.
