Today, we bring news of a Community Open House to be held next week to go over the planned closure of River Road.ย  The Herald broke the story on this matter on August 25th, which led to an outpouring of community communication to Washington County.ย  So much so that the County Planning Staff moved the item from a simple consent agenda item to an action item and voted to delay the closure until better information was brought forward.ย  Now, a notice is going out to some property owners and to media like the Herald to amplify what is happening.ย  ย An Open House is now planned a little over a week from today for everyone to attend and learn more, ask questions, and understand what is going to happen.

Washington County Commissioners To Close River Road Into Hillsboro For 5 Months

This time, the information is clear- this closure is all about a deep Sewer, and the meeting will show residents and those who rely on River Road to commute in and out of Hillsboro why this closure must be done.ย  The school districts will now be given a chance to react as well.ย  It is unclear if anything can be done to mitigate or alleviate this process.

We look forward to seeing many of you there and hope that this meeting and communication will help with this challenging process.

Here is an excerpt from the public notice that was sent to us by Washington County Planning through their communications team.ย  We thank them for including the Herald in this process.
