This weekend is it!  Hillsboro Farmers Market 2022 will spring to life in downtown Hillsboro on Saturday, and at the Orenco Station on Sunday and no doubt the people of Hillsboro are ready!  Is this really happening?  Are we going to see folks out in great numbers for the first time in 3 years grabbing plants, produce, eats, and more?  It sure looks like it, and we can not wait!

For better info and the latest on what is happening, we reached out to director Liz Connor for some thoughts on this season’s prospects!

“This is the 40th Anniversary… it is going to be a really BIG year,” offered Connor.  “We have 75 Vendors ready to go and bring their very best to the market.  Our Fantastic partners and sponsors are helping us too as well as the staff.  This could be our best year ever”.

Liz is excited and with good reason.  The people of Hillsboro and the surrounding valley are itching to get out and have some fun and food and grab up some early produce.  The vendors include winemakers, honey, fresh eats and drinks, plants, crafts, bakers, soaps and scents, coffee and tea, fine arts, brewers, and of course, the farmers that work so hard to bring us the best they can produce straight from the richest soils in the world!  There are so many vendors coming we can not mention them all, but you can find them all right here.

A really great new partnership is that of the local 4H clubs.  Connor said, “We are hosting the 4H program this year at the markets and that should just be super fun and educational too.  This weekend is small animal weekend and there will be a booth and some animals for everyone to enjoy. The 4H members will be interacting with the market visitors and vendors we just think this season is going to be even more special!”

What a perfect partnership.  Residents can not always go to the farm so the farm is going to come to them.  Maybe some people will get their first glimpse at a chicken or a bunny, or maybe even a piglet!  Nothing is more fun at an event than small animals and kids.  Well, maybe local wine and other assorted goodies.  So no matter what you are looking for come out and enjoy the fun.   I know I will be.  Come downtown between 2nd and 1st on Main Street and Washington and Main on 2nd street.

One final bit of news is that a short program will go down at 11 AM in the Civic Center plaza where the 40th season will be celebrated with some Pinatas and other fun!  We hope to see you all there.  Have a great time Hillsboro!

The Calendar of Events this year will really roll out as the weather warms up and music and other special features will be in the mix too.
