Has it been years since you’ve swung your clubs? Or maybe you’ve never golfed before. Either way, golf may be a socially-distanced recreational and exercise activity that hasn’t occurred to you since COVID-19 rudely disrupted our collective existence.
On the course, if you forgo a golf cart, the sport lends itself nicely to virus precautionary guidelines. Even in times free of pandemic concerns, players tend not to cluster together. Moreover, with respect to golf courses, Hillsboro and its environs boast an embarrassment of riches and many are open to the public. There’s a course out there waiting for you, to suit any skill level and desired price point.
Don’t feel like spoiling a good walk (as golf has been humorously characterized) on the course? Remember, many facilities also offer a driving range. This option is fun and good exercise. Additionally, the ranges are often covered, a handy feature in this rainy corner of the world.
Perhaps a new twist on the driving range experience is what you’re looking for. Top Golf, on Brookwood Parkway just south of Sunset Highway, was established with folks like you in mind. Multiple games of target accuracy and competition for points utilize ball-tracking technology and an interactive computer system. Bring your own clubs or use Top Golf’s house clubs (which, as a COVID-19 precaution, are cleaned between each customer along with all other surfaces).
A one-time fee of $5 is required for the basic Top Golf membership. After that, golfers pay by the hour for their use of the facility. Drop-in golfers are welcomed as bay availability allows but you might consider making a reservation. Due to Top Golf’s COVID-19 social distancing measures, it’s advisable to contact them before your visit to ascertain current limits on group sizes and other considerations.
Matt – I think we need to go and celebrate when COVID is no longer a thing!
Sounds good!
