First and foremost, I wanted to say thank you, and what an honor it is to have the Hillsboro Herald cover this award!I graduated from Liberty High School in 2018 and enlisted in the Marine Corps that same summer out of the Hillsboro recruiting substation. Seven years later, Iโm now 25 and I am absolutely loving the experience of living in Japan. As incredible as it has been, I still find myself missing the Hillsboro communityโespecially spending time at the Main Street Tuesday Market, grabbing pizza from Pizzario, or enjoying a burger and fries at the Little Big Burger in Orenco Station. When I think about the people who shaped me most, my parents immediately come to mind. They have always pushed me to pursue what I love, and they’ve supported me every step of the way. Iโm also deeply grateful for my wife, Kessia, and my teammates who helped me create Cars and Coffee in Iwakuni, Japan. Thanks to all of their hard work and support we have been able to thrive as much as we have.Best regards,Sergeant Daniel GuerreroAir Traffic ControlMarine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan
