Hillsboro Parks Commission Meets Tomorrow AM With Baseball Stadium Questions Unanswered

Tomorrow at 8 AM, the Hillsboro Parks And Recreation Commission will have its monthly meeting.  Going into this meeting, the most important questions revolve around the Hillsboro Hops and their demands for a $150,000,000 new stadium.  Members of the Parks Commission and others raised the caution flag when the Hillsboro City Council ambushed them by signing an agreement to build the new stadium for the minor league baseball team without any consultation.  The deal includes destroying 3 of the City’s finest baseball and softball fields to make way for the new 7,000-seat stadium.

The Herald Herald requested public documents and fundamental questions from the City 13 days ago.  Some documents have been sent, but to date, none of the questions have been answered.  Questions that a high school student could answer without much effort.  While we wait for the City to engage with us, let’s hope that members of the Parks Commission get some.  Let’s hope they have the right stuff to ask tough questions and protect the people of Hillsboro’s interests.

Here is the info for tomorrow’s meeting where you can attend by Zoom or in person.
