Hillsboro Herald – Community Service Announcement
Happy Sunday, everyone! This morning, we came across a small news article on the Engage Hillsboro webpage that caught our attention. It appears that the Civic Leadership Academy has been tasked with the creation of a Community Flag – let’s call it the Hillsboro Flag. In the post, the City indicates that residents have only a few days to provide input on the flag’s design and content. The post was placed on the City page 6, and the Hillsboro School District bumped it up, too.
One question we have regarding opportunity, access, inclusion, and access to all in Hillsboro is: Why 1 week? Hillsboro is in the middle of a heat wave, it’s the last week of Summer, and school is about to start. It seems our City could offer more time, so let’s hope something as crucial as a flag to represent us all gets a chance to have real input and robust engagement. Wouldn’t it be great if the school kids coming back could each have a few days to give input?
We, as a City, need to see our aspirations to be inclusive carried out in public policy and in community matters like this.

Something as crucial as a Flag representing the Hillsboro Community needs a lot of voices and a lot of ideas to be shared. On this HOT August day, take a few minutes and weigh in with your best ideas! Take the Survey Now! Input is being taken until September 1st – share this on your socials and with your spheres!
