Music is an essential part of the human experience, and it is great to see the music scene flourishing here in Washington County.ย  One of the truly great organizations helping to enrich the musical landscape is the Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra!ย  ย Next weekend, the beautiful Walters Center in Hillsboro, Oregon, will set the stage for the HSO to bring a beautiful show to our community.ย  Here are all the details!

Three musical ensembles on tap on February 9ย

HSO presents An Evening of Chamber Music at Walters Cultural Arts Center

Hillsboro โ€“ The Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra presents a performance of jazz and classical small groups at a concert scheduled for Friday, February 9, 7:30 p.m., at the Walter Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main St., Hillsboro. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $15 in advance and $18 day of show. Tickets are available through the Hillsboro Parks and Recreation website (cityofhillsboro.ticketspice.com/hillsboro-symphony-orchestra-2024). The performance will feature STAR Quartet, The Silver Lining Ensemble, and Jazz & the Harpist. Concessions will be available for purchase by DAnu Wines.

The Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra is a private non-profit organization with an IRS designation of 501(c)(3), meaning donations are tax deductible (HSO is also part of the Oregon Cultural Trust with accompanying tax deductible benefits). Musicians are all volunteer โ€“ the conductor is paid a nominal stipend โ€“ but rent must be paid for rehearsal and concert venues, sheet music must be purchased and dues must be paid to Broadcast Music Inc., and the American Society of Composers and Publishers for music royalties. Other expenses include printing flyers and programs, insurance and other things. Donations and proceeds from concert ticket sales, as well as grants, make up the bulk of the HSO budget.ย

To help HSO continue to provide entertaining and affordable concerts for the entire family, please consider annual sponsorship: Conductorโ€™s Chair $1,000; Concertmaster Chair $500 (first violinist); Principal Musician Chair $250 (first musician of each section); or Section Musician Chair $150 (other musicians in sections). Businesses are also encouraged to purchase special sponsorships. Sponsorship will help defray costs and sponsors will be acknowledged in concert programs and on the HSO website.ย

Sponsors of HSO concerts include All Classical Portland, Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council, Hillsboro Hidden Creek Community Center, Oregon Cultural Trust, Oregon Community Foundation, Cultural Coalition of Washington County, TriMet and the Oregon Arts Commission.ย

Those wishing to donate to HSO may do so by visiting the website (www.hillsborosymphony.org) or by mailing a check to HSO, P.O. Box 1334, Hillsboro, OR 97123.ย
