Quick post today everyone!  The weekend has clear weather expected, and it will be perfect for seeing Christmas and Holiday lights as well as for catching the Orenco Christmas Parade.  People in our community have been going above and beyond, and I want to recognize some of the most incredible efforts!  So bundle up, grab the hot cocoa and the little ones, or maybe your sweetheart, and get out there!  Here is what we at the Herald recommend – in no particular Order!

#1)   3918 NE MEADOW LANE, HILLSBORO, OREGON

This is a low-quality video of the real thing.  The only way to appreciate what these incredible Hillsboro folks bring to the Holidays is to see it.  It is the magical work of Kent Hunt and Marla Smith, who spent a fortune and so much time to make this happen.  They do it at Halloween too!  Here is a quote from the Facebook Page- https://www.facebook.com/groups/416835519449903  Go to the page to get the real high def video.

You can “Thank us” for this display by bring non-perishable food donations—
2022 “It’s a Disney Christmas”, It’s been very busy here…
Lights on-
Friday & Saturday- 5pm to 10pm,
Sunday thru Thursday- 5pm to 9pm
Thru Christmas.
— NOTE– We have an Oregon Food Bank Barrel for non-perishable food donations located close to our front door. –Please consider those in need during this Holiday Season.–
We are located close to the Hillsboro Airport… Off Hwy 26 go south on Brookwood Parkway, turn on right on Main, turn on 43rd, turn on Meadow Ln, to cross street 39th… or use your GPS to 3918 NE Meadow Ln. Hillsboro 97124.
Handmade Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Tinkerbell on the roof & more. There is a Disney Christmas backdrop for photo opportunity, or the bench in front of Santa in the window, or our life size Grinch Santa, bring your cameras.
Can be seen as a drive by or come up and see the “detail of Mickey and friends Christmas” in the garage scene. Display is designed for young and old! The more you look, the more you will see…
Enjoy, Stay Safe, & have a Happy Holiday Season!
Kent & Marla

#2)   This incredible couple and others made the Page

Hillsboro Oregon Christmas Lights

Now at 4,400 members, the Facebook Page features posts from around the area of great homes to visit.  In so many ways, this is the best of the best site for the community to share the Holidays in Hillsboro, as many things get posted here.  An interactive map has been made over the years, and there is a network of homeowners who have come together to make this a great thing indeed!

#3 Orenco Christmas Parade  – WEBSITE

If you have never been to the Orenco Christmas Parade, you just have missed the greatest thing in Hillsboro during the Holidays.  Nothing can be more fun for the kids and adults than to see 20-plus crazed locals drive home made floats around the neighborhoods lit up like a candle!  This is a fun time for all and the floats and the people that drive them truly unique!  Many live in Historic Old Orenco, where the parade was started by locals Ron and Pam Bulman in 2009.  Over the years it has grown and evolved but it always is just so fun.  All you need to do is park along the parade route and cheer the parade on as it passes by.  The Parade leaves the Orenco Grade School entrance at 6:45 to 7 each night of the events.  I have a float and will be out tonight with my red tractor and an old Historic Sleigh originally from 1961; the Alpenrose Sleigh!  So come out and cheer us on!

ROUTE DETAILS:

Old Orenco –  December  9, 10, 16, 17 & 18

Orenco Gardens – December 10, 16 & 18

Danbury Park – December 9 & 17

Orenco Woods – December 9 & 17

The parade begins each evening at 7:00 pm SHARP and is finished by around 8:00 pm

#4 – Hillsboro Elks Frosty & Friends Drive Through Lights

If you are doing any of the above, this is a great finish.  The Hillsboro Elks do so much for our community, and one more thing they do is provide a wonderful drive-through light display.  It only takes a few minutes, but it is so well done and so fun!  So here is the info – get over there and enjoy it!

We are here to support all of you in Hillsboro in any way we can.  If you have an event, a tradition, a fundraiser, or anything we can share with our growing readers, please call us at 503-799-8383 and or email us at hillsboroherald@gmail.com.
