There aren’t many more fantastic events at the La Strada dei Pastelli Chalr Art Festival, which is coming to downtown Hillsboro this weekend.  The Herald has covered this event for the past three years, and we will be there again this year.  Over the next 48 hours, the streets in the old town, as noted on the map below, will spring to life in a way one has to experience.  Artists from around the US and beyond will work carefully and diligently on the art of their design using colored chalk to create.  Each evolves as the weekend progresses, and by Sunday afternoon, they all culminate in a crescendo that must be experienced.

About La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival

La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival is produced by Tualatin Valley Creates and supported by the Host Sponsor, the City of Hillsboro. The annual summer festival in Hillsboro, Oregon is an immersive community engagement distinct from all others offered in the Portland Metro area of Oregon’s Washington, Clackamas, or Multnomah Counties. This Oregon chalk art festival provides a window into the creative process wherein festival goers can engage with nationally-recognized and emerging visual artists as they carefully manipulate bold, colorful pigments to produce huge, temporary drawings down the center of the street(s); most averaging 10’x10’. Festival-goers come from all over the USA to watch as artists work in real-time on their street paintings.

Simultaneous to the visual arts exhibitions, local performing artists fill the air with rhythm and sound from the festival’s main stage and multiple pop-up locations in the event footprint. Local art vendors line 2nd and 3rd Avenues offering unique items and inspirations to attendees. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to take part in hands-on activities being provided by local nonprofit organizations. The annual summer art festival, held in Downtown Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District, combines community engagement and art appreciation into one FREE fun-filled weekend!

From its creative core to all of the business partners involved, La Strada dei Pastelli’s goal is to build visibility for Washington County’s unique and diverse community assets.

The 2025 Festivals theme is “A Culinary Quest”

Very glad to see that segment of Second between Main and Washington. Seems like one of those events the roof decks were built for.
