Today is the 25th Anniversary of Le’Stuff Antique Mall, a Downtown Hillsboro business. While antique and collectible malls and stores are not uncommon, each has a personality and a backstory. This store has anything and everything under the sun that one could dream of finding when looking for a vintage or antique item. But the real treasures to be found here are Jeff and Sandie Nelson, their Son, Jared, his family, and the extended family of dealers who help make the store an amazing community asset. The success they have springs up from their knowledge of the business and their love of people and our town.
Being downtown Hillsboro comes with a responsibility to put one’s best foot forward and to create a welcoming environment. Le’Stuff has done that for all of these years. The Nelsons have been great civic leaders and have put positive energy into our community since day 1. They helped get the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership going years ago, have sponsored countless events like Sip & Shop and our many Markets, have served on the board of the Hillsboro Historical Society and advised us, and have served on advisory committees.
Jeff and Sandie met when they were very young, and the bond has lasted for decades. Jeff and Jared will be out doing appraisals and looking for inventory, while Sandie, Kathleen, and other staff create magic with revolving items in the front of the store. Having a great business means creating an environment where everything comes together like a fine bottle of wine, a symphony, or an amazing soup on a cold winter’s day. To me, that is the essence of Le’Stuff. These are people who love Hillsboro and our community, and a store that makes the trip just to go see and say hello. Here is to another 25 years!
