We knew it was going to be a great event just based on the fact it included Coffee, The Vault, and the Bennett Coffee Roasting Company as the organizer.ย Seven Hillsboro-based coffee roasters were featured at the 1st Annual Hillsboro Coffe Fair last Sunday.ย It was a total success.
The event was inside the Vault’s theater and event space which provided space for participants to sip a wide variety of coffee and meet the roasters.ย There was incredible information, and each table was a chance to meet these unique people who have chosen to import specialty high-quality beans and turn them into the stuff that keeps us going in the valley that works… COFFEE!

Around the tables I went, and I tasted so much great coffee that, in the end, I had the most productive day of my life …no joke!ย We talked about coffee and the roasting process, and what it takes to be a roaster.ย Let me put it this way, folks, you have to love the process and the people.ย The financial payouts are distant, as all in the event testified.ย Each roaster went on to say it was the process and the people they serve that keeps them going.
Here are the roasters answering two questions we asked them.
For bragging rights, those in attendance were asked to sample coffee from each roaster in a blind taste test.ย One vote for the best of the best was entered.ย In the end, a winner was declared.
The 2022 Best Coffee winner was super mom and coffee roaster Kerri Elliot of Elliot & Murrey Coffee Roasters.ย ย There was so much good coffee that it was hard to pick.ย One thing to know is that all of this coffee is hand-selected specialty coffee from around the world.ย You will not get this coffee in a regular coffee shop or store.ย We encourage you to reach out to these fine roasters and consider buying from them as local producers of something we almost all love.ย See their websites and locations above!
