The Vancouver Canadians are bringing their 2021 baseball season to Hillsboro, Oregon.  As the season for the Minor League club starts, their bats will be blowing up Ron Tonkin Stadium due to the Canadian/US border closure caused by Covid 19 restrictions.  Team President Andy Dunn announced the decision in detail today at the team’s website, which you will find here.

“I’m thrilled that the Vancouver Canadians have chosen to play their season in Hillsboro. Unfortunately, they cannot play at home due to current travel constraints, but Hillsboro loves baseball, as does the entire Metro area, so I know they will be welcomed and supported. The staff and players of the ‘Vancouver Canadians of Hillsboro’ are welcome to call Hillsboro ‘home’ as long as they need. The Canadians have a huge passionate fan base so we look forward to welcoming them to Hillsboro during the season as well.”

Press Release – Vancouver Canadians President Andy Dunn-

The Canadians are affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays and are playing in the High-A-West League that the Hillsboro Hops play in.  The 6 team league is new and will make some exciting baseball for fans come to life right here in Hillsboro.  Take a look at the teams in the League.

The High-A West is a six-team Minor League Baseball league that will begin operating in the Pacific Northwest United States and Western Canada in 2021.[1] Along with the High-A Central and High-A East, it is one of three leagues playing at the High-A level, which is three grades below Major League Baseball (MLB). The league, which will later receive a formal name,[2] was created in 2021 in conjunction with MLB’s reorganization of the minor leagues.[1] The league is made up entirely of former members of the Class A Short Season Northwest League.

The Canadians are tough customers and have won many League and Division titles.   This is a team that plays competitive baseball and they should be a lot of fun to watch.
