Hello Dirk and the Hillsboro Herald!

We’ve got another volunteer tree planting opportunity coming up on March 1, 2025, in downtown Hillsboro and need your help spreading the word!  Like last time, we’re offering free large-stock trees that you get to pick out on our website to anyone living in downtown Hillsboro, planted by our amazing volunteers.

Everything—permits, mulching, utility locates, staking, digging, watering bags—is taken care of by Friends of Trees, all thanks to a Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation TREE Grant. It’s part of our effort to add more native trees (and more trees in general) to this much-needed neighborhood, all while connecting people with their urban forest.

If folks don’t want a tree but still want to help, they can join us at 8:45 a.m. at M&M Marketplace to plant trees, connect with neighbors, and make a difference in the community. It’s a great chance to get your hands dirty, learn about trees, and grow the urban forest!

I also attached our flyer for this event if you want to learn more or add it to the article!

Thanks so much for considering helping us and for sharing it out last time!

Mario Catani

Tried to sign up, said my address doesn’t exist. Just like most websites that offer something like this for “free” there is always problems or say something like “your address doesn’t exist.”.

I previously left a comment, but it was negative and see it’s been deleted. I guess people can’t leave there true opinions on this site.

We get a lot of comments- and yours had been waiting for about an hour. Most sites do not allow comments. Have you tried to call them?

I sent them a email. It’s only for a very small area of downtown Hillsboro. Unless a person lives in that very small area, they won’t supply you with a tree. The advertisement is kinda misleading, it says “your neighborhood” but in actuality it’s a very small part of Hillsboro.

John, there’s no planet on which anything south of TVH is “Downtown Hillsboro.”

Also, read the flyer. Beneath “your neighborhood” it specifically says this is happening in Downtown Hillsboro. Hence the involvement of the Downtown Partnership.

On Hillsboro government site, what’s considered downtown Hillsboro is quite a large area. Area Maps | City of Hillsboro, OR https://search.app/45uRrFnDevq5EgGA6
