The City Council will convene tomorrow night and approve millions in equipment spending and a number of other action items!  Also, there is a work session on housing at 6 PM before the meeting.  At the end of the Council Meeting, the City Councilors, who are the members of the powerful Hillsboro Economic Development Council, will go into another private Executive Session where huge spending decisions and massive land expansions for the City of Hillsboro are being decided and funded.  It is important to know that no citizen is allowed into those meetings!  The Hillsboro Herald staff have also been denied access to those meetings on the basis we are a “Blog” and not a Media outlet- this was decided by City Manager Robbie Hammond and the City Attorney’s office some time back.

Hillsboro City Council

Here is the Agenda- Links are attached, and you can participate in the hearing online or in person and watch it as well.  See the instructions at the end of this post!

City Council 2/20/2024 Agenda Items-

of $649,840.00, and any subsequent change orders, issued to Premier Truck Group for the purchase
    of one (1) fleet vehicle.

and to approve any necessary transfers of appropriations.
  • Consider Finance Committee’s recommendation to approve an Architecture & Engineering Services Agreement with DLR Group for architectural and engineering design services and preconstruction phase of the Hillsboro Police Department (HPD) Headquarters. The expected contract amount is $4,606,528 million dollars. This covers all anticipated design needs and preconstruction activities. Additionally, we request authorization to issue change orders up to$500,000 against a design contingency to address potential or optional services that may arise
during the design process. These optional services, while not currently included, could be
valuable additions if deemed desirable or necessary. Finally, we request authorization for any
necessary transfers of appropriations to support the project.

I’m surprised they didn’t break out the pom poms for the Hops’ bid for state funding, as the mayor did in this week’s op-ed: https://www.hillsboronewstimes.com/opinion/opinion-hops-return-on-investment-is-a-grand-slam-for-oregon/article_e75e3988-d0f0-11ee-8046-b3a6c74d7002.html
