Have you ever wanted to lead your City? Or make a difference in the City of Hillsboro and the lives of the people who live there? Well, if you live in Ward 1, this is your chance!
Applicants are sought for the Council seat that will open this Tuesday when Councilor Beach Pace becomes Mayor Beach Pace. The City of Hillsboro has posted on its Facebook Page that applicants are being sought for this position. The Hillsboro Herald is trying to assist in getting the word out about this opportunity, although the hour is late! So make sure if you know someone who lives in Ward 1 and you think they would be a great leader, or if you yourself want to run, to get an application in by 5 PM on this Tuesday evening!
Anyone can apply, and you can get paid, too! Someone with no experience but a fresh perspective might be the right person.
As of June 24, 2022, the current stipend amounts are:
- Mayor: $4,000 per month
- Council President: $1,300 per month
- Other Councilors: $1,050 per month
These stipends are intended to compensate council members for their time dedicated to city business, including:
- Meetings with constituents
- Attending community events
- City Council meetings and committee meetings
- Periodic meetings with staff
Here is the City of Hillsboro’s announcement made on December 8th, 2024.

City Council Vacancy: Apply by January 7
Hillsboro residents who live in Council Ward 1 — including Jones Farm, Tanasbourne, AmberGlen, Orenco Station, and other north and east side neighborhoods — are encouraged to apply to be considered for an upcoming City Council vacancy to represent Ward 1, Position A.
Mayor-elect Beach Pace will resign her current Council seat, creating a Council vacancy as of January 7, 2025, that will need to be filled by an appointment from the majority of the remaining City Councilors, in alignment with the City Charter.
How to Apply
You can verify whether you are a resident of Hillsboro’s Council Ward 1 by searching your address on this interactive map on the City’s website. Click the magnifying glass icon on the top right to search your address or use the zoom functions on the top left to explore the map.

- Any service work you have performed in the Hillsboro community, either paid or volunteer

The City Council is expected to appoint a replacement to fill the vacancy at a City Council meeting in January or February.*

The Hillsboro Herald is a News source- an online digital newspaper and media source. Most of our stories are one-of-a-kind, unique, hyper-local, investigative, and uncovered by no other news media. We have subscribers and allow advertisers to work with us and meet our readers. We are formally organized as an Oregon LLC with the express purpose of gathering and diseminating news to the public and the Citizens of the Communities we serve. The City of Hillsboro leadership denies the Hillsboro Herald access to Executive Sessions, which has been held almost every meeting lately. There is no record of what happens in those meetings, and media and journalists are allowed. The Herald has been denied access because their city attorneys stated that this is a blog site, not a news media source. This makes it convenient for them to hide what is being done and said from the Herald. We tell you, our readers, this to make you ponder their decision and why they have made it. Several attorneys from the State and National Levels offer to take this matter to court. We want to bring you the news- and the best of the news. We do not force our readers to pay for the news like The Oregonian, Oregon-Live, The Business Journal, and others will. We do ask for your support and patronage as a subscriber or supporter. You can do that right here- https://www.patreon.com/join/HillsboroHerald
