For Immediate Release:

Historic Shute-Meierjurgen Farm Special Thanksgiving Event Looks to Help Build a New Future

Special event November 17 from 10 am to 4 pm

4825 NE Star Blvd, Hillsboro, OR 97124

Longtime Hillsboro community member Lisa Goldbeck is hoping to build a bright new future for her family’s amazing historic home, barn and farm property.

The public is invited to a special Thanksgiving Food and Fun event on Sunday, November 17 from 10am to 4pm. The gift barn at the farm will be filled with this harvest season’s bounty, including homemade jams, jellies, hot sauces, fresh produce, and the farm’s special recipe brisket sandwiches. There will be music, scavenger hunts, and arts and crafts fun throughout the day for kids and families, including creating Christmas ornaments. And you can order your fresh holiday wreath.

This fun holiday party event is also a fundraiser and community information session for this special property, since this last genuinely historic farmhouse in the North Hillsboro Industrial District is looking for a new future, and is for sale. One possible scenario, farm owner Lisa Goldbeck is looking for new partnerships and ideas to capitalize on this special Hillsboro historic farm roots legacy.

Built-in 1890, the beautiful Queen Anne-style farmhouse and its 3.5 acres have been surrounded by industrial development but could shine as an outpost of hospitality and Oregon history with the right vision and redevelopment.

The property has been listed for sale, but additional opportunities exist to support the  Goldbeck family’s vision to create a unique destination location showcasing and celebrating local history and agricultural roots in Hillsboro. The property offers abundant possibilities along with the wonderful existing farmhouse, charming red barn, and fertile fields.

Lisa Goldbeck invites not only the public looking for holiday season special treats and experiences but also potential stakeholders and interested parties to come with your ideas to share at this event. Or visionary investors and angel funders are invited to contact Lisa directly at randylisagoldbeck@gmail.com. The farm address is 4825 NE Starr Blvd in Hillsboro.

Call Lisa or Debby for more information about this event – 971-645-9515

The SIP tax break and fees are ending. Ostensibly they are now paying more in taxes, as they were paying only 25% of what was due. A large portion of the new revenue will flow to the City of Hillsboro and to Washington County and smaller amounts to any other local taxing districts. About 30% goes to the state-wide school funding formula. Couldn’t the revenue from the increased property taxes be used here? Or are Intel and Genentech’s buildings and equipment no longer worth much?

I would like to speak to you about this, Jody- They are not paying even 15% of what they owe- I have all the reports. Some SIPS run to end of 2025, and some to 2032 and beyond and the State will never allow them to be taxed on their equipment. I challenge anyone to show me that Hillsboro and Wash Co will get all this new revenue- the numbers do not show that. The County and City blockade questions on these matters. And I think you and your organization are needed to get this worked out. I have all the Intel Tax print outs on my desk ready to review with someone. Equipment is more than $20 Billion. Buildings maybe $10 Billion. The Millage rate is $16.87 per / 1000 in value. So lets just say $9,000,000,000- / 1000 = $151,000,000 in annual property taxes. Based on that much, I can assure you Hillsboro and Wash Co got screwed these last 15 years. The State took all the money from Income tax and exactly how much did we get back through SIPS or Gain Share? Not a fraction- but maybe I am wrong- so this has to end. We have been cleeced long enough. Precitably, Intel will threaten to leave if we don’t indefinitely extend the SIPS. Hillsboro’s schools have had the bottom fall out and we must look at Intel’s deal and say “There is why”. Let’s talk! https://www.oregonlive.com/hillsboro/2014/08/intels_tax_breaks_historic_30-.html
