One of the most popular businesses in Hillsboro for decades has been Jim’s Ice Cream, located along 10th Avenue (TV Highway) in downtown Hillsboro. From its early roots as a Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors to its current incarnation as Jim’s, this magical little shop has been bringing smiles to the people of our community for years.ย In addition to her fantastic ice cream, cakes, and chocolate bombs, owner Adrian Wakefield has provided community support to those in need.ย She has been working there since she was 16 and has owned it for the last 10 years. Last Thanksgiving, the building was struck by a car, and the damage was so bad that it has been closed ever since.
Finally, news has come from Adrian that they are digging out, and the road back has officially begun.
Happy Sunday, Hillsboro!
Now that summer has come and gone, I’m happy to finally be able to share an update about our future. After 9 long months of progress being almost completely stagnant due to red tape, insurance, etc, – there is finally real work beginning on repairs!Contractors are hoping for about 3 months of repair work, which puts reopening to be almost exactly 1 year since this horrible accident – IF there aren’t any more major delays.I’m heartbroken that this process has taken SO much longer than the originally expected “few months”. But I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel – I hope. When we get closer, I’ll have more exact timeframes to share.I appreciate all of the kind words and well wishes from this wonderful community. It’s hard to put into words how this situation turned my family’s life upside down. All of the support has meant everything on the hardest of days.Since many people have asked, I’m resharing our gofundme link below. We truly can’t wait to see you again!!

More info is here:

We may be gone by then, but if not we will definitely see you again.
I hope you havea huge grand opening. I missed my birthday banana split.
Maybe find some humor and make a new Sunday called “it’s a wreck” and have a contest for ingredients. Since you help out in the community, some proceeds go towards a monthly charity?
Good place. Not open for decadeS yet.
Weird how government always gets in the way with red tape.
This had to be horrendous for the owners, since it is their income. I don’t know how you have financially survived, I hope the insurance that covered those who caused the accident covered your living expenses and the rebuild of the building. It seems that the rebuild process has been excessively long, a two year process? Hillsboro, and Aloha misses you; I hope that there’s a big opening week celebration.
