This Tuesday, April 5th, 2022 is First Tuesday Art Walk in downtown Hillsboro, Oregon, and the lineup this time is so impressive. For those unfamiliar, this is an event that started all the action that goes on in the old town district of Hillsboro 15 years ago when local artists and community leader Linda Holland and others saw the potential for art to transform a dying business district.  The years of hard work have brought us to a time where art of all types, including music, is woven into the entire fabric of the district.  That has had an effect city-wide where art is on the rise.  While Hillsboro is no Sante Fe, it is a place with outstanding options for art lovers.  From fine art to theater, sculpture to pottery, music, and glass- the options are many.  This outcome can be traced in a backward line to Holland and a handful of others.

Evan Acey of Influence Music Hall was with Holland in those early days and saw the potential for music to bolster the art events.  Together he and Holland made a symphony of music and art along with their many supporters.  Acey is a fine musician as is his wife, and at his core believes that music and a place to perform it are all people need to make magic happen.  He has done just that by providing spaces, a stage, sound systems, and encouragement to anyone with the desire to try.  Artwalk’s many venues will be filled with the music of those musicians and singers that Influence supports.

This week the lineup is incredible.  The biggest I have seen brought forth to the Artwalk events so far.  Have a look!

10 venues with the musical acts paired with them are shown in Blue.    Featured art locations include Sequoia Gallery and Studios, Catherine Bede Gallery, Walters Cultural Arts Gallery,  Crystal Heart Boutiques, and The Artful Garden where the Hillsboro Herald shares space and sponsors musicians.

The best part of all is seeing people out and about and walking the streets of our historic district.  The sound of music drifting along the brick and stone rooftops is divine!  Seeing people take a pause from their busy lives, savor a glass of wine, take in the soulful sound of a guitar with eyes closed, or watch a talented painter showcase their works, are all among my favorite things that the event offers.

Come for the art, the music, the wine, the FOOD, and come out because it is now ok for all of us to do that and this is the time.  Life is happening and First Tuesday Art Walk is one thing that makes it so very much better!

HERE IS THE GUIDE TO THE VENUES FOR THIS WEEK’S ART WALK
