A Public Service announcement was made by the Hillsboro Police Department today.  The notice was posted to their social media pages and features a warning to locals not to panic if they see a massive police presence at Evegreen Middle School.  Throughout the month, HPD will conduct exercises to train for what is known as an ‘active threat,’ also referred to as an active shooter drill.  While it is sad that this is the America we live in, it is the reality.  We must appreciate the position our hard-working officers of the HPD are put in.  Even more so, we must be grateful they are preparing for the unthinkable.  Many of you have reported that students across the Hillsboro School District have had to endure Shelter-in-Place drills, especially the young ones.  Hillsboro, as a community, is trying to prepare, and we have much to be thankful for.

If you see HPD, SWAT, emergency responders, drones, etc. at Evergreen Middle School this July, these exercises are the reason why.  Thank you, HPD!
