For William Quintana, professional wrestling is more than just the spectacle of athleticism and drama – it’s also about community. And when that community is threatened, he believes in stepping up.

Quintana, the founder, CEO, and head booker of Prestige Wrestling, announced “FJR,” a benefit event scheduled for August 23 in Hillsboro, with all profits going to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization.

“This show is about giving fans a night they’ll never forget, helping wrestlers achieve their dreams, and making a real difference for a cause we believe in.”

Prestige Wrestling began in 2017 in Hermiston, Oregon, initially running small local shows before expanding to larger markets like Portland. The company’s fanbase, Quintana said, has grown not only because of high-energy events but also because of its transparency. “A lot of wrestling companies will inflate attendance numbers or keep quiet when something goes wrong,” Quintana said. “We’re honest. If a wrestler doesn’t show up, we tell people why. That honesty builds trust, and I think our fans appreciate that.”

The “FJR” show will take place at the Oregon Pro Wrestling School, operated by local wrestler Ricky Gibson. It’s the first time Prestige has hosted an event in either Hillsboro or in a training facility, giving fans a rare up-close look. The card will feature nationally known talents like AEW’s Danhausen and top Pacific Northwest wrestlers including Travis Williams, Johnnie Robbie, Vinny Massaro, and JT Thorne. Additional surprises are expected, including a match between two wrestlers who earned their spot on the show through a video-promo submission contest.

All profits after expenses will be donated to RAINN, and many performers — including Danhausen — have waived their booking fees to maximize the contribution. Quintana expects the final donation to exceed $3,000.

“RAINN reached out right away to support the idea,” he said. “They understood this was for a good cause. Sadly, too many people connected to wrestling have been affected by sexual abuse in some way, so partnering with them made perfect sense.”

Quintana hopes “FJR” will be the first of many cause-driven shows. While Prestige has worked with charities before, this is its first event designed entirely around a national advocacy group. He envisions future fundraisers every four to six months, supporting a variety of causes, including LGBTQ+ rights and minority advocacy.

Outside of the fundraising, Quintana hopes “FJR” serves as a welcoming introduction to newcomers curious about the world of professional wrestling.  “It’s the purest form of physical theater. There’s comedy, drama, action and some of the most accepting fans you’ll ever meet.”

Tickets for “FJR” are available through Prestige Wrestling’s official website. The following night, the company will make its debut at Morrison Market in Portland with another event, “Shark Ethic.”

“Our mission has always been to protect our scene and our fans,” Quintana said. “If something threatens that, especially our queer, trans and minority communities,  we’re going to stand up. That’s what this show is about.”
